It's started. . . AAAAAAAAGH!!!!

Well, it couldn't last forever... as long as there are seasons... things will change. But, I was really enjoying the summer! . . . Anyway the leaves are changing, temperatures are dropping (all the things the weather man so knowingly tells us is going to happen this time of year - Way to go Weather man!!!), Fall is here or if you prefer "Autumn". You have seen (probably) the pictures of the house and all the trees around it. Well all but one of them are Oak trees. There is one, right in the middle of the back yard ( or "garden" ) that isn't. It is a Hickory tree! and as you can see by the picture below, it has very pretty red leaves in the fall. I took this picture off of our deck in the evening with the sun shining through the leaves. I am sure there will be more pictures of the trees as the colors continue to come out.
The picture below is just the beginning of the season. Leaves are coming down really fast now. Well, it's not much, but it's a beginning. Have a great fall and enjoy the cooler weather!

All about Charlie... and Mummy!

This is not just a picture of Jane and Charlie. . . This is just a couple snapshots of Jane and our Charlie interacting. You see... Jane doesn't like cats!... Well, except for Charlie that is. You can see her smiling and giving Charlie treats. Charlie reaches for your hand because we taught him to say please when he wants a treat, or to go outside (he paws the door - unless that is, if we don't pay attention and then he cries). He is such a cute bugger!

Tonight when we went out to call him to come in (he plays outside alot now, and since the episode in the woods with something that scared the heck out of him. He even stays in the yard most of the time). Jane used the flashlight when she went to see where he was. She shined it on him, and of course he came running in like a good little boy that he is. That is where the treats from Mummy came in.

The second picture is after the treats and time to relax (for Charlie). Notice he is smashed up against the couch next to Jane. His FAVORITE toy, the stick with a fuzzy yellow string by his side. Jane says he is a "Daddy's boy" ... but sometimes.... I wonder LOL...

PS. Jane doesn't want her picture taken. But... It kind of defeats the point of this blog being about Jane and Charlie, now doesn't it! So I told her it was okay if she left her hand over her face... and I took the picture anyway!

What better way to learn about the United States

With Jane needing to have some more paperwork done on her immigration work in the up coming year, and being a Mum of a wee tike in the United States. I thought it would be good to help her out with some of the simpler things about America. Why not start with the States, and their capitals. This thing is so much better than the preschool one they used to do. This one actually talks to you and tells you the state and the capital when you put the piece back in. I ordered it for Jane and had it delivered to her through the mail (gift wrapped of course!). She likes it and got a good laugh out of it. She said I was the only person brave enough to get her a childrens map as a gift... but hey! She likes it! LOL
Jane just told me that she went to their website and they have others puzzles as well, Animals, cars and trucks, the Alphabet... too. I think, that she KNOWS the Animals and the alphabet too... If the cars and trucks are all American vehicles we will have to work on that one together. Oh... and... I have to remind her that over HERE we do not say "zed" for the letter "Z". It is going to be fun watching her teaching our little one to be bi-lingual LOL ... American English, AND "The Queen's" English.
Jane gets to help with the numbers... I am no good there anyway... And they will learn American History together. This is going to be SO FUN!!!!

Pictures as promised...

As promised... here is Jane... Starting to show a little now. .. and feeling a little better too. Though the getting sick isn't over yet. But it is getting better. Next weekend we're going to be able to go and take pictures of the leaves changing colors. I fear our days in the sun are coming to and end for the season... I like the snow, and, I look forward to it! ... Working on the planes in the cold... not so looking forward to it! LOL Such is life huh!

I guess it's about time!

Well it started out we were getting some groceries at Walmart... We start out always with the side of the store that is filled with all the things that are about the house and garden and pets and vitamins etc...
We even got a little stand for the TV we are putting in the basement with the exercise equipment. When we were in Arizona I used to go to the community center gym and row, and of course they had TVs that you could watch while you exercised. . . I liked that! and I found rowing without it got boring fast, and so I haven't been doing it. Well, I have the stand, and the new TV, so all that is left to do is run the cable and get back into the habit of rowing. That should help me to get back into shape and lose this belly I have acquired over the years.
Any way...

We walk past the home electronics towards the groceries and there is alllll this Baby stuff! Well, we had to take a detour and have a look! I must admit it brings me great pleasure to see Jane's eyes light up when she looks at the little outfits, and the little shoes, and all the cute little things that go with having a new baby.
We happened upon this cute little Teddy Bear (about 7-8 inches tall) and it says "My first Bear" on the front of it. It wasn't Blue or Pink so it was perfect as we are not wanting to know what we are having before the little tike gets here. That in the cart we REALLY started wandering around. We have pretty much decided that this little one is going to have a Pooh theme in the beginning. The stroller, the playpen and all the things like that for newborns look nice, neutral and well Pooh is originally from England, and it's more to our liking than the newer, louder, annoying and obnoxious purple, and bright red characters that have been around now for a while. Anyway, so we also got a nice Pooh first blanket.
Enjoy the pictures and well, I guess it's starting to sink in for us a little more... I didn't forget to take a picture of Jane and post it... She is just hard to get a picture of... I will post one though.

TTFN!

Happy Labor Day everyone!!!

If you stand on our deck and look at the house directly above the steps, well that is Walt and Helens. They are retired and we've grown to be quite fond of them. Their daughter lives down the street from us and the other day she said she's gonna have to start calling me brother ( I thought that was sweet).
Well Helen just had a pacemaker put in (she just got home from the hospital), she has diabetes as well and has had a couple of falls. Her son in law Tom asked me to help with a ramp. So Saturday, and yesterday we built her a ramp. Tom, Ron (his neighbor) and I built it. I designed it, and gave Tom the materials list and away we went.
It was hard work, but it was good company, and I like seeing my designs come into reality. You can't see it in the finished product. But the deck was built in four seperate modules and bolted together. the only thing permanent is the bottom four post as they are set in quik-crete. That way the asthetics? of the house are not altered. When there is no need for the ramp, it can be removed and it will look as it did when built.

That's Walt on the ramp.

Jane is resisting me taking pictures of her and posting them on the blog... Though you may get them in email. . . I will do what I can. I am not very good with the counting and keeping track of these things as women do... I do good to remember March 21st... Until then, I do what I can to make her as comfortable, and rested as possible. I know we have some kind of appointment on Friday. . . Then of course... I work the weekend. Woo hoo!
ps... I got my 3 Iron fixed and I get to pick it up on Tuesday! woo hoo!...
woo hoo!...woo hoo!
